Frequently Asked Questions
Questions about holistic care
Many questions arise when people visit a new Holistic Therapist. Below are some of the most frequently asked questions people have. If anything is still unclear, don't hesitate to contact me.
Why is an intake interview important?
An intake interview is necessary to get the best possible picture of your request for help, pain complaint and wishes. During this conversation I will ask you questions about your physical health, as well as your emotional and mental well-being. Also knowing whether you take medication and which one is important to make a good treatment plan. There are a number of exceptions where I cannot apply massage, but Reiki as support is always possible.

Do you provide assistance in the treatment of a terminal or chronic illness?
Yes, I also provide support for terminal or chronic illness. Before treatment, it is very important that we discuss your disease during the intake interview and that we can apply supportive and pain-relieving treatments here.
As a coach, I also support you during the grieving process that you are going through in a period of being seriously ill or in preparation for the transition process.
How can I prepare for my (first) treatment?
You can prepare by setting intentions that the treatment contributes to the desired result. Try to get as much rest as possible before you come to your appointment by, for example, avoiding crowded areas and loud noises from the TV, radio, etc. You can also take a warm relaxing shower to wash off the stress of the day and be completely open to receiving healing energy.
What is Holism?
Based on a holistic philosophy of life, one lives on the assumption that everything is one, that everything is connected and that everything is connected in energy. Tangible and intangible sensations are experienced as part of a larger whole.
Holistic health studies look at life and the body in a holistic way. This means, for example, that what is playing at home is not suddenly no longer in your system when you are at work or out with friends. Everything that goes on in your head has a direct effect on your body and vice versa.

Holism assumes that everyone is already whole and complete in the core. There is no need to improve yourself, move away from yourself to meet the expectations of others, or make a better version of yourself. Basically you are already whole and complete.

However, in our lives we have often learned to adapt and we have ended up in situations that have taken us away from our core. With holistic therapy I support you to get back into your own self again on a physical, emotional, mental, energetic and spiritual level.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is an alternative Japanese healing method that uses universal energy to heal the body, even at the cellular level. Reiki uses mantras, crystals, and gemstones as they have pure and healing energy that can support the healing process.
Reiki is mainly aimed at letting the energy flow in the body reducing tensions. The energy stimulates the self-healing capacity of the body. It will bring you more in touch with yourself and will strengthen your intuition. Reiki is often the start of a personal development process. It helps you discover who you really are and make choices that really suit you.

The Five Reiki Principles
• Don't worry today
• Don't get angry today…
• Honor your parents, teachers, and others
• Earn a living fairly…
• Show gratitude to all living beings

What is NLP?
NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming. This methodology was created by studying people with exceptional talents and abilities.
NLP as a method originated in the 1970s after researchers studied which thought patterns, emotions, and behavior led to success and which resulted in an undesirable outcome.
We are often influenced by unconscious mechanisms that motivate us and stimulate creativity but can also hinder us.

Applying NLP helps you to gain insight into your unconscious patterns and how you can change them to achieve a different (desired) result.
NLP has a well-known slogan: If I can do it, so can you. Our behavior and, therefore also, our talents and abilities are malleable. We can create goal-oriented change by recognizing and adapting elements of our inner experience.
NLP coaching also contributes to effective communication. We perceive information from the outside world and filter this information through our inner system, and we bring this out in the form of our communication and behavior. Understanding how we perceive and filter information from the outside world brings insight into recurring patterns that can be modified by applying NLP methods.

The various methods used in NLP contribute to the following:

- Gaining insight into and improving the relationship with yourself, relationships in a private setting, and the business context.
- Influencing moods, thoughts, and behavior lead to undesirable results for you.

- Breaking through limiting beliefs.

- Developing your talents and being able to use them optimally.
